There are four ABET accredited engineering schools in the state of Idaho, and a number of closely related programs, such as computer programming and engineering and project management programs.
There is not one city that's most popular, although University of Idaho in Moscow and Boise State University in Boise are highly competitive and probably graduate the most engineers.
There are not any online engineering degrees with campus locations based in Idaho yet, but there are a number of out-of-state online engineering degree options that accept residents that live in Idaho.
Engineering Schools in Idaho to Consider
Boise State University, located in Boise, Idaho, with a population of 200,000, offers a curricula designed to integrate the needs of students. Faculty members obtain grants from industry for equipment to support introductory and advanced studies in microelectronics, integrated design, device mechanics, robotics, fluid mechanics, and soil mechanics. BSU offers bachelors and masters degrees in engineering.
Idaho State University is located in Pocatello, Idaho, a town of about 54,000. The university has Fundamentals of Engineering exam review courses and participates in joint efforts with other universities throughout the country, including the Western Governors University (WGU) and Inland Northwest Research Alliance (INRA). ISU offers bachelors and masters degrees in engineering.

The University of Idaho is located in Moscow, Idaho. Moscow sits in a region called the Palouse and has a population of about 25,000. UI has six engineering departments: biological and agricultural engineering, chemical and materials engineering, civil engineering, computer science, electrical and computer engineering and mechanical engineering. They offer bachelors and masters degrees in engineering.
Lewis-Clark State College is located in Lewiston, Idaho, one half of the Lewis-Clark Valley, with a combined population of about 58,000. This valley rests on the confluence of the Snake and Clearwater Rivers. The Technical and Industrial Division at Lewis-Clark State College, or LCSC, provides students with technical knowledge, special skills, hard-working attitudes and safe work habits. North Idaho College is located in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, a town of about 48,000. North Idaho College, or NIC, has engineering and related courses offered to satisfy requirements for students who plan to transfer to larger institutions with baccalaureate degrees. NIC has civil, mechanical, chemical, and electrical engineering courses, and classes for students interested in fields such as computer science, robotics, bioengineering, geological engineering, environmental engineering and more.
Northwest Nazarene University located in Nampa, Idaho, twenty miles west of Boise, Idaho, has about 80,000 people. At Northwest Nazarene University, they offer an interdisciplinary engineering program, where students can choose a concentration in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or engineering physics. NNU offers a bachelors in engineering.
Brigham Young University-Idaho, is located in Rexburg, Idaho, with a population of about 26,500. Brigham Young University-Idaho is a private, four-year university affiliated with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Ira A. Fulton College of Engineering and Technology at BYU gives students a technical education and leadership skills. BYU offers bachelors and masters degrees in engineering.
The College of Southern Idaho is located in Twin Falls, Idaho, a town of about 46,000. The college provides a high-quality education that conforms to the standards of the American Mathematical Association of Two Year Colleges (AMATYC) and offers student advising for mathematics, computer science and engineering majors. Ranked among the world’s top five semiconductor producing companies, Micron Technology utilizes the use of engineers through every step of the production, whether it’s software engineers designing the software needed to manufacture the part, process engineers setting up the semiconductor process or defect analysis engineers assessing problems and finding solutions. Micron Technology has more than 9,500 employees at its Idaho location.
H.W. Lochner is a nationwide employee-owned company that provides infrastructure and transportation services and products. Their specialties are construction, traffic/transportation, highway/roadways, design/build, planning, hydraulics and environmental services. Although their staff consists of urban planners, inspectors, and environmental specialists, this company mostly relies on civil and structure engineers. There are approximately 500 employees working at H.W. Lochner.
