Missouri Engineering Schools

Missouri boasts a proud history of education, with 34 of its schools offering engineering programs. Most notable among these schools are the University of Missouri, Missouri University of Science and Technology, and Washington University.

While Kansas City has more engineering schools available in total, the most popular city for college in Missouri is Saint Louis, with over 106,000 students attending its schools. Following Saint Louis are Columbia and Springfield, each reporting 59,000 and 54,000 students, respectively. Saint Louis's popularity is due to it being the location for the more famous engineering schools in Missouri. Washington University, Saint Louis University, and one of the campuses for the University of Missouri reside here.

Engineering School Options in Missouri

When looking for engineering schools in Missouri, many prospective students turn to the most well-known, which include the Missouri University of Science and Technology, Washington University, Saint Louis University, and the University of Missouri, with three locations in Saint Louis, Kansas City, and Columbia.

Each of these schools offers its own extensive range of engineering programs. Missouri University of Science and Technology, for example, has a more diverse engineering platform than many colleges and universities, providing Bachelor’s programs for aerospace, chemical, civil, geological, and petroleum engineering, as well as many others. This school also offers Master’s programs in many of the same branches of engineering, making it a popular choice for many aspiring engineers.

Online Engineering Degrees in Missouri

Many of Missouri’s accredited colleges and universities have developed extensive online programs in recent years.

Most notable is the Missouri University of Science and Technology, which US News has recognized as having one of the top online engineering programs. Washington University recently expanded its online curriculum, having joined many schools with Semester Online in the fall of 2013.

Semester Online allows students to obtain a degree from an accredited university without having to attend brick-and-mortar classes. The University of Missouri, while still a respected school, has yet to develop a rigorous online curriculum, and currently only offers a handful of online engineering courses.

Options for Bachelor’s Degrees in Engineering

The aforementioned schools all offer Bachelor’s degrees in many areas of engineering. The Missouri University of Science and Technology, Saint Louis University, University of Missouri in Columbia, and Washington University all provide Bachelor’s programs in the following areas: civil engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering.

Many of these schools, as well as other accredited schools in the state of Missouri, also offer Bachelor’s programs such as aerospace engineering, chemical engineering, environmental engineering, and many more.
