Ohio Engineering Degrees

Ohio is home to a traditional engineering niche. It is still home to major manufacturers and lately has developed a thriving environmental and energy extraction segment.

Most of the engineering schools are in the more populated cities in Ohio, including Cleveland, Toledo, Columbus and Cincinnati. All these cities offer vibrant amenities for students, from interesting neighborhoods, art scenes and major entertainment possibilities. Some colleges, such as The Ohio State University have nationally ranked sports teams with enthusiastic followings.

Overall, there are 31 different universities in Ohio with ABET-accredited engineering programs. ABET accreditation is considered to be the top engineering and technology focused accreditation a program can achieve. However, there are other excellent engineering programs in Ohio that are at regionally or nationally accredited universities.

Engineering Schools in Ohio to Consider

There are many well-known medical facilities in the state, with The Cleveland Clinic in the forefront. Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton has its own Masters degree engineering program and uses civilian engineers as well in its aerospace programs. Below are just a few of the ABET-accredited programs available in the Ohio.

Cincinnati State Technical and Community College in Cincinnati offers 8 different Associate engineering degrees, including Biomedical Equipment and Information Systems Technology, Computer Network Engineering Technology and Power Systems Engineering Technology.

Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland is one of the Midwest’s premier universities and it has ABET-accredited Bachelors programs in 12 engineering fields, among them Aerospace, Biomedical, Engineering Physics and Polymer Science. Case Western has a robust online degree presence with Masters offered in five degree programs.

The Ohio State University College of Engineering , Columbus offers Bachelors degrees in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering (BSAAE), Agricultural Engineering and Environmental Engineering among 15 different programs. The college is developing more online degree programs and currently offers an online Master of Science in Welding Engineering.

The University of Cincinnati College of Engineering and Applied Science offers 15 different Masters programs for engineers, including those in electrical, environmental, information, computer, chemical and civil engineering fields.

The University of Toledo offers one Masters program that is offered online. The Practice Oriented Master of Science in Engineering combines engineering and business.
