Utah Engineering Schools & Degrees

There are 11 schools that offer programs in engineering in the state of Utah, six of which offer graduate level programs.

Salt Lake City Utah is the most popular city with Engineering schools in it. It is the capital of Utah, and has been ranked the "least stressed out city" by CNN. This may be because of the high levels of employment and low cost of living. It is home to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and has many events and festivals to entertain students when they are not busy studying. It is the largest urban area in the Intermountain West.

Utah Engineering Programs to Consider

The University of Utah, located in Salt Lake City, has 8 engineering programs as majors offered by their College of Engineering, along with a handful of minor programs. Engineering degrees at the University of Utah include Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.

Brigham Young University is a private, Mormon school and offers a variety of degrees ranging from Electrical Engineering to Computer Science.

Southern Utah University has one degree program in Integrated Engineering, which is multidisciplinary.

Utah State University, with a large student body, offers a large variety of major degrees including Biomedical Engineering.

Davis Applied Technical College has a program in Audio Engineering, and ITT Technical College in Murray, Utah has an Electrical Engineering program. Ogden-Weber Applied Technical College, Salt Lake Community College, and Utah Valley University all offer Engineering Programs. The first two only proceed as far as Associate Degree Programs. Finally, Weber State University has programs in Automotive Engineering and Nuclear Technology.

In Utah, there are many course options to choose from at the following schools: Davis Applied Technology College, Snow College, and Southern Utah University, which offers degree programs in fields other than engineering and many online courses with the University of Utah. The last school mentioned has degree programs at the Master’s level in Agricultural Systems Technology and Technical Communication.

Bachelor’s Degree education in Engineering may be found at Brigham Young University, Southern Utah University, the University of Utah. Utah State University, ITT Technical College, Utah Valley University, and Weber State University.

Master’s in Engineering programs exist at Brigham Young University, Southern Utah University, the University of Utah, and Utah State University. They are also available at Utah Valley University and Weber State University.

Two top engineering firms in Utah are Kleinfelder and CEntry Constructors & Engineers.

Kleinfelder is an employee-owned engineering, architecture and consulting firm that offers consulting in civil and structural engineering; environmental analysis; natural resource management, and construction management. They also offer landscape design services, chemical data management, process engineering services, risk assessment, architecture planning, and laboratory testing and construction inspection. There are about 2,000 employees working at Kleinfelder, many of which are civil and geotechnical engineers.

Montgomery Watson is an engineering and consulting firm that provides services to several markets, including energy and power; water and wastewater; industrial and commercial; transportation; waterways and coastal; oil and gas; and transportation. Their services include consulting, engineering, research, analytics, and construction management, among others.
Their staff of more than 5,000 consists of more than 30 disciplines; however, the largest portions are civil, industrial, electrical and mechanical engineers.
